Certified by the State Bar of California since 1988 and sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Bar Association, the Lawyer Referral Service of Santa Cruz County is the oldest largest and most respected legal referral service in Santa Cruz County. You may request an appointment by phone or by filling out the online Appointment Request form: https://lawyerreferralsantacruz.org/contact-form/ An administration fee of $50 for your 30-minute consultation supports our non-profit service. The fee is paid in cash at the time of your appointment. If you schedule a phone consultation, you will be asked for your credit card information at the time your appointment is scheduled. Once you meet with your attorney and your 30-minute consultation is over, you and your attorney may agree that more time is needed for your case. If so, it is up to you and the attorney to discuss additional fees. There is no administration fee for Workers’ Compensation appointments.

Senior Citizens Legal Services
Senior Citizens Legal Services serves residents of either Santa Cruz or San Benito Counties. Only persons who are at least 60 years of age or older are eligible to receive services. Eligibility does not depend on income and assets, but resources are directed towards seniors who have the greatest social and economic needs. Phone hours on Monday and Tuesday are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; phone hours on Thursday are from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and phone hours on Wednesday and Friday are from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Seniors must call the main office to make an appointment.

Open Door Legal
Open Door Legal provides free legal representation to low-income adults for civil matters. Individuals must reside in Districts 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 10, or 11 in San Francisco. We define low income as 50% of Area Median Income (AMI), as published by MOHCD annually. We do not represent employers against employees, landlords against tenants, defendants needing help in criminal court, people appearing in traffic court, businesses facing a commercial eviction, or people needing help with Child Protective Services matters. We are a first-come, first-served legal organization regarding conflicts of interest. We cannot ethically help both people who are suing each other. If we are conflicted about helping you, we will then provide a referral.
