Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Associations
The OCDLA was founded in 1976 by a small group of Oklahoma City lawyers who regularly handled criminal cases. Since its modest beginnings, the OCDLA has expanded to become a 500-member organization with members in all of Oklahoma’s counties. Private attorneys, public defenders, OIDS attorneys, OIDS contractors, and “associate” members with specialized knowledge in particular areas of criminal law make up the membership of the OCDLA.
The OCDLA is the only private organization in the state that is solely focused on supporting criminal defense attorneys. An extremely elite group is the OCDLA. We do not let judges or prosecutors participate in our seminars on a full-time basis. The OCDLA offers its lectures in places where we can manage the attendance of our briefings and lectures. Ex-prosecutors frequently join the OCDLA as soon as they open for private practice following their time spent serving in government.
Mission Statement of Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association
To uphold the rule of law in criminal cases, safeguard the individual rights protected by the Oklahoma and Federal Constitutions, oppose any attempts to restrict these rights, foster collaboration among attorneys working towards these goals through educational initiatives and other forms of support, and use this collaboration, education, and support to advance justice and the general welfare. With the caveat that the Association will limit its lobbying efforts to those that are incidental to the goals stated below.
Advantages of Participation
OCDLA is committed to ensuring that everyone’s rights and freedoms are protected. We are devoted to the right administration of criminal justice and the diligent defense of those who are accused of crimes, and we are sensitive to the interests of both public defenders and private practitioners. Our goal is to offer the best possible legal counsel to guarantee everyone’s right to liberty and justice.
